When you are thinking about hurricane protection, storm panel hurricane shutters are a common choice. These aluminum or steel shutters will attach to the walls around doors and windows on tracks or bolts. Storm panels are corrugated and each piece will overlap in order to give the shutter maximum strength. There are different storm panel hurricane shutters you can choose.
One style will incorporate both bolts and tracks. The top of the panel is slipped into a track above the window and the bottom panel is secured to bolts that are attached under the window. A second style uses a set of C-shaped tracks below and above doors and windows. Bolts slide into the tracks.
Storm panel hurricane shutters are the least expensive out of all the permanent shutter systems. They are removable so they won’t change the look of the home when not in use and are strong to provide great protection. However, they do require storage and can be hard to handle.
